An exciting new opportunity has arisen within our Highways Development Management team.
We are a small, friendly and busy unit that provides highway advice on planning applications to planning officers, technical advice to developers and generates income from managing highway agreements for new roads.
A key function of the team is the inspection of new roads and associated infrastructure such as lights and drains as part of the Section 38 of the Highways Act 1980 adoption process, whereby the council adopts the highway once we are satisfied it meets appropriate technical standards.
We have one new Principal Highways Inspector to cover the whole of the East Riding and are looking to strengthen the team with this post, which will work with the Principal Highways Inspector.
You must have a genuine desire to learn, be organised and a good communicator with a ‘can do’ attitude and have some experience in highway design, engineering and construction or have, or be working towards, an appropriate qualification.
We offer a discounted leisure centre membership, staff discount scheme, and potential for flexible working arrangements working for a council which is recognised nationally as one of the best in the country.
If you want to find out more about the post please contact Andy Forsey, Highways Development Management Team Leader, tel (01482) 393753 or Jamie Dodgson, Principal Estates Road Inspector, tel (01482) 395756.
