Engineer - Highways
There are exciting opportunities on the horizon, to hold a career graded position suitable for both experienced engineers and those interested in progressing in a challenging technical role, as part of the Council’s Transport and Development Team.
As a Transport and Development Engineer your daily workload will involve liaison with developers and planners and technical problem solving, working on highways and transportation matters associated with major development.
North Yorkshire is a beautiful county, famous for its attractive towns and villages, and by considering the implication of development on the existing transport network and assisting in the delivery of high quality new roads, the role is part of the team ensuring our renowned communities can continue to grow and thrive, whilst remaining well connected.
With a bold and varied landscape and excellent wider transport links, North Yorkshire inspires and attracts a wide range of major developments, and often unique projects which are exciting to be part of. As well as working on the transport and highway solutions associated with thousands of planned residential properties, the team has also been part of plans for developments delivering new link roads, rail bridges, film studios, entertainment complexes, new transport terminals, and even delivering opportunities for mining and other varied critical infrastructure projects.
An excellent candidate would have relevant qualification and experience, or would have the desire and ambition to progress and develop into an exciting career, and a willingness to work towards a HNC in Civil Engineering. Excellent communication, problem solving and negotiation skills are also prerequisite.
