Job Details
The Council Tax team is looking for somebody to join a team responsible for making sure that Chelmsford residents receive accurate Council Tax bills and that Council Tax is collected quickly and efficiently. You will be expected to liaise with official bodies to ensure that properties are brought into the Council Tax lists at the appropriate time and that their banding is accurately reflected in our records. You will also be responsible for explaining the content of the bills and making arrangements with taxpayers regarding repayment of outstanding liabilities. You will need to be able to vary your communication style depending on the situation to achieve the best outcome for the Council, while still offering excellent customer service. This will not be an entirely desk-based role as, from time to time, visits to taxpayers in their own homes may be required, so a confident and professional manner is also essential.
Chelmsford City Council is committed to safeguarding vulnerable groups and expects all employees to share this commitment and have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services. The Council's Safer Recruitment process contains pre-employment vetting which includes safeguarding training, obtaining references and ensuring compliance with the Disclosure and Barring Service process.
