West Berkshire is an excellent place in which to live and work, with beautiful countryside, bustling towns, culture, sport and heritage on our doorstep. Newbury is an hour’s drive from London, Bristol and Oxford.
Following a review of our senior management arrangements we are now looking to recruit a new Executive Director to lead our Resources Directorate. Whilst we are looking for someone who can act as the Council’s S151 Officer we are also looking for a candidate who wants to play a key role in delivering our new Council Strategy.
We are looking for a qualified accountant with a track record in leading and developing large multi-service teams. You will play an active role within the Senior Management Team working closely with the Chief Executive and Members. You will be responsible for developing and overseeing the delivery of the Council’s Medium Term Financial Strategy and for providing leadership with regard to the Council’s resource management strategies and governance arrangements.
You will need to be confident working with a wide range of stakeholders and be commercially astute. Experience of working in the public sector, ideally local government, is essential. We are also looking for someone with a range of relevant and transferable skills and experience which will both complement our existing Senior Management Team and provide the leadership we look for from our Executive Directors.
