Job Details

Dorset is transforming. This once in a lifetime opportunity presents the chance to not only streamline costs, but a chance for area-wide collaboration in order to transform and redefine public services for residents in Dorset. Benefits will be realised through greater coordination strategically and operationally across the areas of health and care, infrastructure, housing and education.

As we take the first revolutionary steps towards the transformation of Dorset Council, expert leadership will be absolutely critical. Step by step, we’ll create a brand new, fit for the future organisation. Working with the Executive Director and your own team, Children’s Education and Learning Services will excel and thrive in the diverse, inclusive culture you create. Together, you’ll place the educational, social and emotional needs of children and young people at the heart of our vision. Developing an effective and professional education and learning function, and driving transformational change across a spectrum of services including school’s admissions, out of school’s services, SEN and SEND assessments and advisory services, will be essential to us achieving this.

With a professional qualification within education, you’ll have a track record as a successful senior leader. You will bring significant experience of leading an education service at a senior level and have a sound understanding of the legislative frameworks that education operates within. You’ll be financially astute and adept at leading large-scale transformation and delivering exceptional and responsive services. Influential, tenacious and politically sensitive, you’ll have the credibility and communication skills to unite this dedicated team and work effectively with key partners, including Ofsted and schools.

We want a new authority that’s in touch with our communities; one that will build a 21st century economy and deliver quality services efficiently. How that happens will be down to an extraordinary team of leaders, which could include you. Join us, and decide how the future should look.
