This network is growing too, with 9km of new highway every year, 9,500 planning applications every year and 700+ live development sites at any one time.
About the job
Reporting to the Principal Highway Supervision Engineer within the Development Engineering Team you will undertake inspection and monitoring duties on highway construction projects implemented vis private development, from commencement through to adoption. You will prepare defect reports, determine extent of remedial works and instruct/advise upon all matters of specification and quality of workmanship. You will provide the first point of contact between the highway authority and contractors.
You will have proven experience of supervising/overseeing highway construction projects ideally in a client/approving body role. The ideal candidate will have sound interpersonal communication skills and be very competent in liaising with clients, consultants and contractors on construction/technical matters. As a member of the project management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction of a number of highway projects across the County and will be expected to provide a front line service with direct interaction with contractors, designers, developers and members of the public. You should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, confident, work well within a team environment and strive to support the deliver high quality services.
