The Role

We want someone special to lead and manage our key Sports and Leisure service, developing opportunities to attract more customers to the biggest range of sport and fitness facilities in Suffolk.

You will oversee three sports centres, two swimming pool complexes and four gyms used by people from Ipswich and the surrounding area. The Council offer also includes a stand-alone sports pavilion, a wide range of fitness classes and community activities designed to meet its health and wellbeing agenda.

The successful applicant will have the skills to be a dynamic and effective leader, taking the service forward and meeting financial and delivery challenges.

Sport and Leisure is an important frontline service that is often in the public and media spotlight, so you will need strong communication skills to manage your staff and promote the service to the public.

You will be a key member of the Council's Senior Managers Group and will report directly to the Head of Culture and Environment Services.
