This is an exciting time for Camden’s Transport Strategy service, which is leading on some critical transport improvements in this central London borough, while also transforming the way we work. To help us achieve our ambitions we’re looking for a Public Realm & Planning Team Manager to join the service.

You’ll lead the development of strategic projects for transport planning and be part of the management team responsible for delivering a range of exciting projects as part of the Transport Capital Programme, including Holborn area-based scheme, Kilburn High Road and High Speed 2. This is a challenging and varied role with responsibility for a team and high profile projects so as part of our rewards package, the post holder will be remunerated up to £53,702 per annum which includes a market supplement.

You will be working in a politically driven business environment while maintaining effective working relationships with Elected Members and a range of key stakeholders. Your stakeholder engagement skills will thrive in our fasted paced environment and you’ll act as a key link between the service and the Development Management service. As the expert advisor for technical issues, you’ll provide advice and guidance in an accessible format, bringing key decision makers (internal and external) along the journey to secure the best possible outcomes for the citizens of Camden.

You’ll have extensive experience in transport planning or relevant membership/qualifications such as a degree to demonstrate your knowledge of the industry. Experience of managing projects of significant size, complexity and value including budget and resource management is key to the role.

Your strong verbal and written communication skills will mean you can confidently deliver various forms of public consultation techniques such as, leading public meetings and engaging with consultants and user groups. You’ll have excellent negotiation skills, being able to influence decision making and build partnerships with external organisations to achieve strategic objectives.

You’ll also have a strong working knowledge of the legislative policy and planning framework in which the service operates and an understanding of the wider context of traffic and transport policies including (but not limited to), land use planning and urban design. This post requires an innovative individual that will pro-actively identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the service.
