This is an exciting opportunity to join Telford & Wrekin Council’s Network Management Team to lead on the delivery of a variety of projects within the Highways, Transport and Engineering Services area.

Telford a new town has its roots in the 1960s but this doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the past. Over the last 50 years the town has grown and developed into a hub of innovation and investment. 

Telford & Wrekin Council is ambitious, always looking to develop, improve and attract investment. The Council has recently delivered a number of exciting projects including the new £250m Southwater Development, £12m Box Road Transport Scheme, £17m Growth Point Package and £12m Telford Town Centre Connectivity Package. Over the next three years the Council is embarking on a significant investment programme in the highways and transport network including £26m investment into our highways network.

As the Principal Traffic Engineer you will be the technical lead on various road safety engineering schemes as well as managing the delivery of the annual Capital Programme as part of the Councils Pride in Our Community Programme. In addition to this, you will be key to developing the Council’s Urban Traffic Management Control Centre to ensure Telford & Wrekin Council is at the forefront of smart city technology, managing assets such as traffic signals, variable message signs and CCTV cameras.
