This is an exciting opportunity to join Telford & Wrekin Council’s Traffic Management Team to provide technical advice and support within the Highways, Transport and Engineering Services area.

Telford a new town has its roots in the 1960s but this doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the past. Over the last 50 years the town has grown and developed into a hub of innovation and investment. 

Telford & Wrekin Council is ambitious, always looking to develop, improve and attract investment. The Council has recently delivered a number of exciting projects including the new £250m Southwater Development and £12m Box Road Transport Scheme. Over the next three years the Council is embarking on a significant investment programme in the highways and transport network including:

£1.9m New Telford Bus Station

£17.3m Telford Growth Point Package

£3.6m M54 Junction 4

£12m Telford Town Centre Connectivity Package

£4.5m highways capital programme

£2m Pride in Your Community investment programme

As a Traffic Engineer you will be required to design and implement traffic management and road safety engineering schemes as part of the Local Transport Capital Programme across the Borough on time and to budget to ensure that the Council fulfils its duties under legislation such as the Traffic Management Act (TMA) and the Highways Act.

You will also  assist in the design, management and maintenance of traffic signals in the borough. As part of the role you will undertake technical work related to the design of new traffic signal installations and will work to develop the Urban Traffic Management and Control Centre (UTMC) to ensure that use of modern communications technology fully underpins the operation of a safe and free flowing transport network in the borough.
