Director of Growth & Regeneration
A £205m highway scheme. Plans for 140,000 new homes. An economy that’s grown nine percent since 2010. And a fresh economic strategy. These are just some of the reasons why Norfolk’s growth has taken on impressive momentum. And why there’s a tremendous role waiting for a Director of Growth & Regeneration. With ambitions that span a raft of areas plus substantial funding, you’ll have the scope to make big things happen across a broad landscape
Norfolk is an inspirational place. For instance, did you know that our region has the first dedicated youth employment centre in the country? And an Aviation Academy? We also have excellent links to London, Amsterdam and wider international markets, not to mention a thriving economy that encompasses Energy, Agri-tech, Life Sciences and Bio-tech, Finance and more. It all adds up to an area that’s hungry for growth and ripe for major development.
Together with the New Anglia LEP, we aim to create 88,000 new jobs, support the creation of 30,000 new businesses and grow the economy by £17.5bn. We want Norfolk to be a place for high growth business, with a clear and ambitious offer to the world. Above all, we want to create and support strong, sustainable communities. And that takes robust strategic direction and a clear, inspiring vision. You’ll work with Council leaders to achieve our goals, operating with a high degree of autonomy. You’ll encourage employment and housing growth, but at the same time, ensure our natural environment is respected. You’ll also develop key sites, securing investment and funding, and always seek to raise the bar. But none of this will be possible without a unified approach. It’s therefore vital that you build links with District councils and local businesses and gain their trust and support.
An existing leader with a consistent record of achievement, you’ll be highly credible, with a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant area. You understand the public sector and have good political acumen, plus solid experience of development, investment and supporting existing businesses. Behind your expertise is a practical, intelligent and forward-thinking approach. You can see the bigger picture and bring together disparate schemes and large-scale projects. To succeed, you’ll also need fantastic engagement skills – partnerships and collaboration will be crucial to your success.
We’ve got potential. And we’ve got great plans for the future. Join us, and help make Norfolk an even better place to be.
