We're recruiting to a number of Graduate Engineer/Engineer roles across the following teams:

  • Strategy and Commissioning
  • Design and Delivery
  • Parking - please note these roles are fixed-term for 3 years and will be based in Sutton
  • Streetworks

Finding the right people is critical to our future success. For Graduates we’re looking for you to have a real interest in transport planning including the design and delivery of high quality engineering schemes. You’ll also need to be enthusiastic as well as having the ability to think creatively, drive change and implement new ideas. You’ll be a recent graduate (or graduating this year) in Engineering or a related subject and looking to take your first steps into an engineering career in local government. For the Engineer posts we’re looking for people who combine enthusiasm, drive and creativity with a successful track record of delivering high quality transport solutions in a local authority environment, whether working in the public sector or private practice.


For all roles your work with us will help ensure our highways and transport infrastructure is safe, fit for purpose, sustainable, cost effective and well connected. So, you’ll need to have good communication skills with the ability to put your ideas across clearly to colleagues and customers - both in person and in writing, and you’ll need to demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritise your workload effectively in order to work on​ a number of projects simultaneously from inception to completion.

You can expect a lot of variety as all our Engineers will work on a number of projects across both Council’s. We aim to rotate Graduates around our teams to ensure you get a solid grounding in Highways and Transport, you can find out more about our teams in the job profile.
