The Role
Bexley Libraries are looking for a dedicated and customer focused individual to join the team at Central Library, Bexleyheath as a Customer Advisor, working 23 hours average per week. This includes working on alternate Saturdays and one Sunday in a six week period.
Applicants will demonstrate confidence, enthusiasm, energy and resilience in supporting the Central team, delivering a wide range of services to the public. Duties include being the public face of the Council, issuing and returning books and other items, keeping the shelves tidy and attractive, helping customers use our IT facilities, preparing and delivering children’s and adult events and activities, supporting your colleagues in creating a welcoming and vibrant environment for all visitors and sharing your knowledge of the wide range of books and other stock.
Flexibility, eagerness to learn, excellent customer service skills, a keen interest in books and reading, good IT skills, plus the ability to work as part of a great team are essential qualities for the role.

As part of the Libraries’ team, the post holder may be required to work in five other libraries across the borough to cover absence, occasionally at short notice.
